For static performances by three or four musicians, we have a miniature PA system of around 100W with six input channels which runs easily from a single basic bicycle generator. The whole system can be moved by two people over long distances in non-vehicle areas using a pedestrian trolley and set up quickly. It has a stage box and multicore so that the desk can be positioned at the back of the audience to get good sound. There is a facility for about 30W of stage monitors and other extras include a tape deck for background music and a simple digital reverb or a pair of CD DJ decks.
Though not quite as loud and impressive as our biggest system, we think its simplicity and size make it more likely that people will be inspired to copy it.It is an ideal size for a low energy system; the highly efficient power amplifiers make energy management really easy. It's so economical that it's possible to support vocal performances like poetry by limiting the pedalling to the breaks if necessary. Various sized speakers are available: for maximum portability or cramped conditions there is a pair of 8" cabinets, or 10" and 12" units which give better efficiency and more bass.
